KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 -- Taylor's University, in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW), launched the first Bachelor in Fashion Design Technology programme in Malaysia today.
The virtual launch of the programme was graced by the Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
“As the industry grew, Malaysia has emerged as one of the global trendsetters particularly when it comes to textiles. Furthermore, from the streets in Paris to the runways in New York, Malaysian designers have made their mark through their designs which have been worn by celebrities, royalties and more.
“I believe Malaysia is brimming with creativity that we can showcase to the world, so I do hope to see the next breed of local fashion entrepreneurs and fashion designers revolutionise the Malaysian and global fashion industries through their own interpretation of fashion via the use of technology,” she said.
In the same event, Taylor's University deputy vice-chancellor Professor Dr Pradeep Nair said that Malaysia has been making quite a headway in the global fashion scene and modest fashion with a brand like Naelofar or traditional textile concept have been featured in several worthy international fashion event.
“Because of that, we are extremely excited to bring to Malaysia another Bachelor Degree at Taylor's that combine creativity and technology which is a much-needed combination for today's textile industry,” he said.
