BATU PAHAT, Nov 30 -- Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) will close its Parit Raja Campus here and the Pagoh Campus in Muar, for five days beginning tomorrow (until Dec 5) to carry out sanitisation.
UTHM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Wahid Razzaly said throughout the period, the university would focus on sanitising the affected areas in both campuses.
He said the closing also took into consideration the increasing COVID-19 transmission within surrounding communities that had led to detection of several positive cases in the campuses.
“In our effort to curb the outbreak, we have to realise that we are the actual frontliners, to protect ourselves, our family, friends and colleagues from the virus that does not discriminate who it infects,” he said in a statement here, today, while urging everyone to work together and do their best in protecting the campus community.
He also thanked all COVID-19 volunteer teams under the university’s staff club, who would be leading the sanitisation operation, monitored by the University’s Health Centre and Occupational Environment, Safety and Health Office.
UTHM Parit Raja is located in Batu Pahat district, that is now a red zone with 123 active COVID-19 cases as of yesterday, while Pagoh Campus was in the green zone until three cases were recorded in Muar.
