SEREMBAN, Nov 27 -- Local locomotive manufacturer DS Rail Mobility Sdn Bhd has launched its first product, a shunting locomotive NXO4-BOX model (Loco NXO4-BOX) whose function is to pull goods cargo.
Managing director Datuk Dzulfadly Abdullah said the model is equipped with various features such as a bio-diesel engine and is able to pull a maximum load of 120 tonnes in addition to having a maximum climbing gradient of seven degrees and a top speed of up to 60 kilometres/hour.
“Loco NXO4-BOX was produced within five months since June and so far, we have produced a Loco NXO4-BOX model that will be marketed to Sabah for the railway services there,” he told Bernama here today.
Dzulfadly said the first product managed to achieve up to 47 per cent local content and use 100 per cent local skilled workforce.
“This initiative can help local products, as well as support the local and national economy,” he said.
He said more than 20 local suppliers has been appointed for the manufacturing of the product.
“Throughout the process of producing this locomotive, DS Rail Mobility received the support and cooperation from the Ministry of Transport, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, GIATMARA and SIRIM Bhd who acted as the certification and recognition bodies for our product.
“Besides that, MTURolls Royce, CRESCENT, Power Fluid and Cummins Malaysia also provided support as technology partner and supplier of DS Rail Mobility,” he said.
Going forward, he said the company plans to market the model nationwide and is also eyeing the ASEAN market, as well as part of New Zealand and Australia.
“The product line should consist of various suitable models such as shunting locomotive of 800 horsepower (hp), rail cab of 200hp and main line locomotive of 3,500hp.
“We will produce various types of shunting locomotive models, including SH04-Box, SH08-Box and RC02-HVX for future production as we look forward to ensure the relevance of the products to the development of green and digital technology, in line with the industrial revolution aspired by the government,” Dzulfadly said.
Established in October 2019, DS Rail Mobility is 100 per cent Bumiputera-owned and has 27 employees, including engineers.
The company achieved a sales revenue of RM1.7 million for the first five months of this year and aimed to earn a yearly income of RM3 million.
