Penang won't be complacent - Chief coach

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 7 -- Penang did not want to be complacent after beating Felda United FC (Felda FC) 3-1 in the Malaysia Cup competition at the Bandaraya Stadium, here, Friday night.

Its chief coach, Manzoor Azwira Abdul Wahid said the teams, which would be playing in the quarter final competition, had their own strengths, and should not be taken lightly.

‘’I consider the Kelantan FC team have a high fighting spirit and can create the unexpected while the UiTM FC team have experience in the Super League and have a consistent match record after the Movement Control Order (MCO).

‘’As such, we will know on Sunday whether we will be playing against Kelantan or UiTM. So, we will study first and try to give our best in the next match,’’ he told reporters after the match against Felda United FC.

He said the priority currently was to ensure several players who were injured when playing against Felda United FC would be able to recover before the next match.

‘’The win has boosted the spirit of the players and their momentum to perform at the next match,’’ he said.

He also expressed his thankfulness when his team was able to advance to the quarter finals in the 2020 Malaysia Cup competition after a 14-year wait.

‘’The last time Penang advanced to the quarter finals (Malaysia Cup) was in 2006, so this is the best achievement given by the team,’’ he said.

Yesterday, the Penang goals were contributed by Anselmo Arruda Da Silva, Mohammad Amer Azahar and Changhoon Lee while the Felda United FC’s goal was netted by Nicolas Leandro Velez.
