BAKU, Oct 28 -- Four civilians including a child were killed and 13 others injured as a result of a missile attack by Armenia’s armed forces on Azerbaijan’s Barda district on Tuesday, reported Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC).
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the attack, which happened on the eve of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in Geneva, “is a clear demonstration that Armenia is not interested in a political solution to the conflict and aims to undermine negotiations by all means.
“We call the international community to take a firm position to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the ministry added.
The recent US-brokered humanitarian truce was announced Sunday and took effect 8 am local time Monday but Baku claimed that Armenian forces continued to attack Azerbaijani civilian settlements and military units.
Both sides also blamed each other for violating two earlier ceasefires on Oct 10 and Oct 17.
