KOTA KINABALU, Sept 26 -- STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan retained the Tambunan seat with a 6,792-vote majority in the 16th Sabah state election today.
The 72-year-old Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister polled 8,691 votes, compared to his nearest rival Laurentius Nayan Ambu of UPKO who received only 1,899 votes.
The other candidates in the six-way contest - Silverius Bruno (PBS), Damian Marcus Podtung (PCS), Nordin Jaini @ Zaini (PGRS) and local singer Jimmy Palikat (Independent) - all lost their deposits.
