Monash IVF completes acquisition of  KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital's IVF Clinic, assets

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 3  -- Monash IVF Group Ltd has completed its acquisition of IVF assets and assumed management control for KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital’s IVF Clinic this week.

The acquisition is expected to improve access to fertility care and assist reproductive treatments for patients in Johor, as well as that of Singapore and Batam, Indonesia, the group said in a statement.

As IVF pioneer, Monash IVF Group has continued to lead the way in reproductive health since achieving the world’s first IVF pregnancy in 1973.

The group said it would bring its full suite of science and technology to the region, including a world-first embryo screening test that can reduce miscarriage and time to successful pregnancy.

The transaction with KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital marked Monash IVF Group’s first footprint in Southeast Asia, outside of KL Fertility in Kuala Lumpur.

In welcoming the partnership, Monash IVF group chief executive officer Michael Knaap said the group was thrilled to bring its science and services to patients in Malaysia and nearby regions. 

“Supported by our world-class lab and clinic management, we are able to offer fertility care at affordable rates and to help our patients on their journey to achieve their dream of having a baby,” he said.

Knaap said the group also hoped to continue to expand its offering in the region. 

Monash IVF Group currently has 41 IVF Clinics and Ultrasound Practices across Australia and Malaysia.
