KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 27 -- The cooperation forged today between the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and Husa Network Sdn Bhd to produce a radio talk show, known as ‘Khabar Pantai Timur’, is very much in line with the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the talk show, which would focus on current affairs, entrepreneurship and business development, would help entrepreneurs affected by the outbreak, especially from small and medium industry, to get back on their feet and improve their businesses.
“The talk show is very useful in disseminating information related to entrepreneurship. This programme would introduce entrepreneurs from the east coast and customers will get information on their products or services.
"The state government hopes that the collaboration between Bernama and Husa Network Sdn Bhd would not only disseminate information but educate the community especially during this difficult time,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of MoU between Bernama Radio and Manis FM at Wisma Darul Iman here.
Ahmad Samsuri also expressed his appreciation to Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah who mooted the idea for the collaboration.
Bernama was represented by its editor-in-chief Datuk Mokhtar Hussain and head of broadcast (TV and Radio) Roslan Ariffin.
Manis FM was represented by Husa Network Sdn Bhd general manager Ozarizan Mohd Nor and its operations manager Zaid Talib.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Terengganu State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Yahaya Ali, state Human Development, Missionary Work and Information Committee chairman Mohd Nor Hamzah, as well as Bernama deputy editor-in-chief Abdul Rahman Ahmad.
Through the collaboration, the ‘Khabar Pantai Timur’ programme will air simultaneously for half an hour every Thursday at 7.30 am on both radio stations for 13 weeks beginning Sept 3, featuring inspirational stories of entrepreneurs from the east coast.
Apart from that, Bernama Radio will also provide an opportunity to two Manis FM staff to undergo training on radio programme production at Wisma Bernama in Kuala Lumpur, while Manis FM will broadcast Bernama Radio's entrepreneurship programme on its station.
Meanwhile, Mokhtar said the ‘Khabar Pantai Timur’ programme would enable the voices of entrepreneurs from the east coast not only be heard by the locals but also all Bernama Radio listeners in Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
"I hope the synergy between Bernama Radio and Manis FM will not only benefit both parties, but also make radio broadcast more dynamic and competitive for current and future listeners.
“The MoU is also very meaningful as it is the first agreement signed between Bernama Radio and other radio station.
"It is hoped that this cooperation can further boost the working spirit of all Bernama staff," Mokhtar added.
Ozarizan said it was hoped that the content and coverage of Bernama Radio and Manis FM could benefit both radio stations and the community.
