PUTRAJAYA, Aug 17 -- Prof Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman has been appointed the new vice-chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), effective Sept 1, Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad announced today.
Mohd Roslan, 51, prior to this was the university's deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) and has been carrying out vice-chancellor duties since July 1 this year.
"He has wide experience in student affairs management as well as ensuring various programmes are carried out with the main objective of strengthening students' volunteerism culture, leadership aspect and soft skills," she said in a statement, here, today.
Noraini said Mohd Roslan, who graduated with a Veterinary Medicine degree from UPM (1994) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuron System Physiology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (1999), has also published more than 200 research papers in high impact journals.
"I believe with this appointment, he can continue the achievements and contributions in maintaining UPM excellence and thus reviving high technology agriculture as UPM’s main field," Noraini said.
