KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 -- UMW Holdings Bhd has appointed Azmin Che Yusoff as its acting president and group chief executive officer (P/GCEO), effective tomorrow.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the industrial conglomerate said its board of directors is currently in the midst of selecting a replacement for the position, which was previously held by Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim who had passed away on Sunday.
“Azmin’s appointment as the acting P/GCEO is based on his vast experience, leadership maturity and deep understanding of UMW’s operations,” it said.
It said Azmin’s strong leadership will ensure the continuity of ongoing initiatives, allowing the group to execute its strategies and plans that are already in place for its next stage of growth.
UMW said Azmin, who had earlier retired from the group as the group chief operating officer and group chief financial officer on June 30, 2019, had resumed his service on April 1, 2020 as the chief operating officer-corporate.
It added that he had also facilitated the execution of selected special projects and key initiatives under the company’s transformation agenda.
