KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 -- The Cabinet has decided that two months’ salary of the prime minister, ministers and deputy ministers will be cut and donated to the COVID-19 Fund.

Prime Minister’s Office in a statement today said the matter was decided in the Cabinet meeting yesterday to prove the government’s commitment to helping those badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Fund was launched on March 11 as part of the efforts to help the people affected by the disease.

As of yesterday, RM8,493,103.48 had been raised, including government grants.

Malaysia’s death toll due to COVID-19 now stood at 21, with over 1,700 positive cases.

The Movement Control Order is in force from March 18 to April 14 to flatten the curve of COVID-19 infection in the country.
