KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 -- History is created in the Malaysian politics today, with the comeback of PAS leaders in the new cabinet line-up announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin moments ago.
The return of PAS in the federal government’s administration brings back the time when the party was part of the Pakatan government (National Alliance) from 1973 to 1974 and Barisan Nasional (BN) from 1974 to 1977.
The new cabinet line up saw PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan being appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law).
Takiyuddin, 59, who graduated from Universiti Malaya with a bachelor’s degree in law, ventured into politics after joining PAS in 1989.
The former magistrate was Bunut Payung State Assemblyman for three terms since 1999 and is now Kota Bharu Member of Parliament after winning the seat in 2013 in the 13th general election and again in the last general election in 2018.
