KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 -- Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has pulled out of Pakatan Harapan (PH), leaving the coalition with three component parties, namely PKR, DAP and Amanah.

The Bersatu decision to leave the coalition was announced by president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

He said the decision was reached by the party’s top leadership at a special meeting yesterday.

“All Bersatu Members of Parliament will in effect pull out of Pakatan Harapan. All of them have signed a statutory declaration to continue to support and place their trust in YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

“This decision was made after considering the current political development and the future of the country,” he said in a statement.

Even as this statement was released to the media, Dr Mahathir had tendered his resignation as the prime minister.
