LANGKAWI, Feb 14 -- German rider Maximilian Richard Walscheid of NTT Pro Cycling Team clinched his second stage-win after emerging victorious in the final stage of the 2020 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) here today.
The lanky 26-year-old rider defeated Italian Luca Pacioni of Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec and Ara Pro Racing Sunshine Coast rider Taj Jones of Australia today to win stage eight, which was a loop race involving a distance of 108.5km from Dataran Lang to Kuah.
Pacioni and Jones finished second and third respectively, and the chief judge awarded a common time of 2 hours 29 minutes and 08 seconds to the top 10 riders who crossed the finish line in a sprint bunch.
Walscheid had won the third stage of the 2020 LTdL from Temerloh to Kuala Lumpur on Feb 9.
Today's victory enabled Walscheid to claim the green jersey as the Best Sprinter.
Malaysian continental team, Team Sapura Cycling (TSC), on the other hand, clinched two jerseys -- yellow jersey as overall winner via Italian rider Danilo Celano and red jersey through national rider Muhamad Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff, who emerged as the King of Mountain.
Vino-Astana Motors rider Yevgeniy Fedorov of Kazakhstan won the white jersey as the Best Asian Rider.
