Former MAS Md Abdul Aziz laid to rest

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 -- Former Malaysia Airlines Bhd (formerly known as Malaysian Airline System)) managing director Tan Sri Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, who died of cancer complications shortly before midnight last night, was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery at 3 pm today.

He breathed his last at the Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Hospital in Ampang at 11.51 pm yesterday. 

He was 86.

Earlier, his remains were taken to the Saidina Umar Al-Khattab, Bukit Damansara here to be bathed, shrouded and for funeral prayers to be performed.

Over 1,000 people flocked to the mosque to give their final respect to Abdul Aziz, including former chairman of Malaysia Airlines Tan Sri Dr Mohamed Munir Abdul Majid, Prime Minister's Special Adviser on Media and Communications Datuk A Kadir Jasin, social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and former Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Kamarudin Md Ali.

Abdul Aziz leaves behind wife Puan Sri Wan Zakiah Ibrahim, three daughters and a son.
