JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 1 -- Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Perling here has taken a different approach in recording the attendance of its pupils, teachers and staff by using a facial recognition system.
Headmaster Zamri Abd Wahab said the use of the system, introduced this year, was to smoothen the school’s daily operations.
“We are always open to the latest technology usage,” he said when met on the first day of the school session today.
Zamri said the school was the first in the state that uses the system that would see recorded data is uploaded onto pupils' database application (APDM) which contains the pupils' attendance record and their personal information.
He said the system was donated by a non-governmental organisation Myrahub Foundation.
Zamri also hoped that the use of the system could be expanded to include visitors registration as it would help strengthen the security of the school.
The school has 1,034 students, including preschoolers and a special education class.
