KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20  -- Since the superhero movie, Gundala premiered in Indonesia on Aug 29, actor Bront Palarae’s popularity has been on the rise across the country.

Playing the role of an antagonist named 'Pengkor' in the flick, Bront, whose real name is Nasrul Suhaimin Saifuddin, 41, shares a sense of pride to have been part of the film's production because of its different story-telling approach.

"In Gundala, there's action, humour, sadness and all that kind of stuff but it's still a movie that gives meaning among other things. It also serves as a reminder of our responsibility to the people," he told a press conference at the film's preview here today.

In this film, which is adapted from the comic book ‘Gundala Putra Petir’ (1969), Pengkor is an influential and intelligent-minded character who wants the future of society to be morally deficient.

Bront said Gundala can be a source of inspiration for local filmmakers to produce commercial movies that are filled with great wisdom whilst entertaining audiences with the use of humour.

Gundala will be screened in Malaysia from Dec 26.
