KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 -- Former national midfielder Mohd Badhri Radzi has arguably rejuvenated his career by helping Kelantan United win the M3 League title this season.
It has been a tough journey for the 37-year-old veteran, who had faced the problem of salary arrears with Kelantan and Perlis which saw them ousted from the Malaysian League following their failure to provide strong financial guarantees to compete next season.
Mohd Badhri, better known as Piya to his teammates, said he was glad to have helped Kelantan United emerge as the M3 League champions and qualify for the 2020 Premier League.
Kelantan United claimed the M3 League title after scoring a 5-0 win over Kedah’s Glory United FC at LADA Stadium, Langkawi on Oct 27 and last night’s match against ATM FC was their final league match.
"Syukur Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God) for this success and I want to thank the head coach (Zahasmi Ismail) for bringing me to Kelantan United. For me, it is not an impossible task to win the Premier League next season, but there are many things we need to improve on," he told a press conference after the match against ATM FC, which ended 2-2 here last night.
Mohd Badhri said he was overwhelmed by the support of Kelantan fans, especially in away matches of the M3 League this season.
His teammate, striker Fakhrul Zaman Wan Abdullah Zawawi, said he is thankful for helping the team win the M3 League title.
"Syukur Alhamduillah to have emerged as the M3 League top scorer with 28 goals, and I'm happy to have won the M3 League title. I will work harder next season as the Premier League is different from M3 League," said the former Kelantan player.
