SEREMBAN, Oct 17  --  Property developer, IJM Land Berhad brought cheers to three underprivileged families by donating cash and groceries in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebration on Oct 27.

Its senior general manager (central region) Datuk Hoo Kim See said the team gave each family essential items and groceries worth RM500 through the ‘Deepavali Charity Cheer’ programme.

Each family also received RM500 cash assistance.

According to Hoo, the developer decided to do its bit by helping the less fortunate celebrate Deepavali and as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

“We hope the cash and groceries would reduce their burden and to celebrate the festival of lights in a joyous mood,” he told Bernama here at the event, which was also attended by the state Human Resource, Farming and Non-Muslim Affairs Committee chairman J Arul Kumar.

Single mother J. Letchumy, 28 who has been caring for her three children was one of the recipients.

She was grateful and thankful for the assistance that helped to reduce her family’s financial burden in preparation for Deepavali’s celebration.
