BANGKOK, Oct 15 -- Thailand today announced special public holidays on Nov 4 and 5 in Bangkok and Nonthaburi in conjunction with the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings to be held at Impact Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.

As ASEAN chair, Thailand will be welcoming leaders from 10 ASEAN member countries and its dialogue partners.

The 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings will be held from Oct 31 to Nov 4.

Thailand’s deputy government spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul said the cabinet today endorsed the two-day special public holiday during the summit aimed at easing traffic congestion in the capital and facilitating travel for the leaders and delegates during the summit.

“Government agencies in Bangkok and Nonthaburi will be closed on these dates.

“However, state enterprises, commercial banks and private companies will decide later, whether to close or postpone the public holidays to avoid disruption of their services,” she said at a press conference, here, today.

Meanwhile, government spokeswoman, Narumon Pinyosinwat said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed his attendance at the upcoming ASEAN Summit, while United States President Donald Trump and China’s Premier Li Keqiang have yet to confirm their attendance.
