IPOH, Sept 25 -- After more than 16 hours, the tanker with about 20,000 litres of acetone which overturned into a canal in Kampung Parit Mentara 3, Bagan Serai has yet to pulled out from the watery grave.
The tanker which was on its way from Klang, Selangor to Penang overturned before going into the village canal at about 5 am.
Perak Fire and Rescue operation assistant director, Mohamad Yunus Abu said the operation to remove the chemical was expected to be completed by tomorrow morning.
“Firemen with the assistance of the company involved will transfer the acetone from the tanker to a new lorry tonight.
“We will try to finish the transfer operation by tonight depending the weather,” he said when contacted here tonight.
