Tuaran Hospital needs upgrade to cater for increasing patient numbers

TUARAN, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Tuaran Hospital is in need of an upgrade, with a full complement of medical facilities, as it is currently meeting the needs of patients from within and outside the district, said Sabah health director Dr Christina Rundi.

Established in 1994, the hospital which had successfully provided medical services to patients despite not having in-house specialists, was viewed as a potential satellite hospital which could accommodate patients from outside Tuaran, as it was the closest medical facility to Kota Kinabalu, she said.

Other hospitals which are successfully meeting the needs of patients despite the absence of specialists, comprise the Sipitang and Kuala Penyu hospitals.

Speaking at a healthy lifestyle carnival at the hospital today, the director expressed the hope that the facility would maintain its reputation and achievements which included being certified as a litter-free hospital.

Also present was hospital director Dr G Mohan Gopal Naidoo.
