BELURAN, Sept 19 -- The formation of Malaysia, comprising Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak in 1963 is the best choice for Sabah, said Beluran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.
He said that this enabled Sabah and Sarawak to be administered and developed in all aspects including on the issues of security.
"The formation of the Malaysian nation which we love has enabled the people in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsula to live peacefully, harmoniously and prosperously,’’ he said here today.
In the meantime, Ronald said that leaders from Sabah had loudly urged and voiced concerns for socio-economic and development equality in the state.
"This is due to the position of Sabah which is still lagging in terms of development and the inequality gap is more apparent in the rural areas.
"The loudness of the Sabah leaders in expressing the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63) is because of facts and history,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, he said the unity of over 30 ethnic groups in Sabah must be emulated by all.
‘’Sabah is the best example of unity among the multi-racial, multi-ethnic people which should be emulated by the other states in the country,’’ he added.
