Tengku Amir Shah opens FAS' new training centre

SHAH ALAM, July 24 (Bernama) -- The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today launches the new training centre of the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) at the State Secretary’s Office field in Section 5, here.

His arrival was received by Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and State Young Generation Development, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman.

Tengku Amir Shah, who is also FAS president, visited the 400,000 square feet centre which was equipped with an administrative office, football field, gymnasium and a physiotherapy centre.

In his speech, he said tha the setting up of the new facility was his first vision in wanting to ensure the old FAS office located in Kelana Jaya was moved after almost 23 years.

‘’FAS is a big entity in the Malaysian Football arena. It was set up 83 years ago and had won numerous  major championships in Malaysia but was still operating from a poorly equipped training centre.

“I hope the new centre will further boost the spirits of the players, coaches and FAS staff in giving the best to the association and simultaneously bring back the glory of the Red-Yellow in Malaysia,’’ he said at the launching of the new centre here today.

He hoped that the new facilities which commenced operating officially today too would inspire the players other than enabling the administration and coaches to be placed under one roof.

At the same ceremony, Tengku Amir Shah also consented to take part in a friendly game between the team of the Raja Muda of Selangor (RMS) and the Menteri Besar’s team.

In the 40 minutes match, the RMS’ team beat the Menteri Besar’s team 2-1.
