"Valley of Unity" tagline suggested as additional tagline for Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan today suggested that the national capital carry an additional tagline - ‘Valley of Unity’ - to complement the “City of Contrast and Diversity” tagline it currently adopts.

He pointed out that each of the two taglines projects different images of the city. 

"The Valley of Unity is a tagline that represents a multiracial society. We want this in Kuala Lumpur and make it apparent. The food, friendships, relationships and other programmes such as sports, urban wellbeing and anything that promotes racial unity.

“We want all Kuala Lumpur residents to have their welfare taken care of and to be happy and experience quality living,” he told reporters after officiating opening the "The Wall of Love" mural beautification programme here today. 

Nor Hisham said the Kuala Lumpur 2040 Master Plan, to be gazetted at the end of next year and implemented in 2021, is aimed at improving the life of city dwellers, especially for the low income (B40) group.

The Wall of Love mural beautification programme is a joint project undertaken by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)​​, Parkroyal Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Milestone Trainings Sdn Bhd (Kumpulan Legacy 93). 

The mural is located next to the hotel in Jalan Imbi and is visible from the Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan Imbi intersection. 

The drawings carry messages of racial unity and religious harmony and colourful illustrations of local culture such as teh tarik, ketupat and also the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.
