TKC receives Apple Distinguished School award for second time

NILAI, July 19 (Bernama) -- Tunku Kurshiah College (TKC) has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School (ADS) for the second time since 2017.

The renowned boarding school in Bandar Baru Enstek here received the award from the technology giant for the period 2019-2021, first receiving it for the 2017-2019 term. 

TKC principal Anismah M. Noh told Bernama the school was recognised for its fulfilment of the award's first criteria comprising 100 per cent usage of the iPad in its learning and facilitating processes.

Other achievements of TKC in connection with the award are successfully producing an iBook, also known as an iPad Learning Companion, as well as developing material for the iTunes U app, Anismah said yesterday at the ADS award ceremony held at the school and which was officiated by Tan Sri Abdul Ghaffar Mahmud, adviser to the global schools of excellence at the Ministry of Education (MOE). 

Another event held at the school yesterday was the closing ceremony of the four-day Tunku Khursiah Model of United Nations Conference 2019 which was attended by 171 students from 17 schools including global schools of excellence, boarding schools, day schools and international schools.

Speaking at the ceremony, Abdul Ghaffar said the MOE’s global schools of excellence initiative was an innovative attempt to realise government policies and transformative agenda, with global schools of excellence comprising schools with certain features such as students who possessed outstanding talent as well as characteristics such as global competitiveness.
