Ifedayo wins PFAM-asiana.my Super League player of the month

SHAH ALAM, July 16 (Bernama) -- Selangor’s import striker, Ifedayo Olusegun has been selected as the Super League Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) asiana.my award winner for the month of May.

The 28-year-old Nigerian received the highest votes,  4,741,  and defeated four other candidates -- Jonatan Bauman of Kedah (3,676 votes), Patrick Reichelt of Melaka (1,989 votes), Johor Darul Ta’zim goalkeeper, Farizal Marlias (1,386 votes) and Petaling Jaya City FC striker, Pedro Henrique (221 votes).

Ifedayo received a trophy, a frame of his picture, prize money of RM1,500, a special jersey from Great Heights, and also the active sports gel by Maselfix, from the Chief Executive Officer of PFAM, Izham Ismail and Selangor head coach, B.Sathianathan in a brief ceremony, here, today.

Speaking  to the media afterwards, Ifedayo thanked his teammates and also the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) for the award, adding that it will spur him to help Selangor to do well in the Malaysia Cup campaign, early next month.

“I would also like to thank the Selangor fans who were always behind our team during the Super League matches, besides voting for me to win this award,” he said.

The monthly award which was introduced by PFAM and asiana.my since 2015, is a special award to recognise the contributions of the players in both  the Super and Premier League football competitions, and the selection of winner is based on the highest votes received via the PFAM website;www.pfam.my.
