PETALING JAYA, July 12 (Bernama) -- The Kajang High School (KHS) football squad emerged champions of the Datuk Mokhtar Dahari Cup for the third time after defeating SMK Seksyen 7 Shah Alam 3-0 in the final at the Subang Municipal Council Arena Stadium here tonight.
The three goals for the victors who had also won the championship in 2015 and 2016, came from Muhammad Lukman Hakim Mohd Azli (49th minute) and Muhammad Danish Haikal Haili (53rd and 56th minute).
KHS took home a cash prize of RM10,000, medal and challenge trophy, while SMK Seksyen 7 Shah Alam received RM7,000 and medal presented by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
SMK Bandar Tasik Puteri came in third after defeating SMK Tengku Idris Shah 1-0 in the third-place playoff.
Meanwhile, the championship’s organising committee chairman Datuk Emran Kadir said the cup was the best platform to uncover potential young talents in the game.
"The first five editions of this championship managed to produce 115 players who are currently playing for major clubs in the country", he said, adding that the sixth edition this year received a great response, with 576 students from 32 teams participating.
