Man arrested after scaling Britain's Buckingham Palace gates

LONDON, July 11 (Bernama) -- A man has been arrested after climbing over Buckingham Palace's front gates in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Xinhua news agency reported, citing local media that quoted the Metropolitan Police Service.

The 22-year-old man, who has not been identified by the police, was not carrying a weapon at the time and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

Police said the man was held on suspicion of trespass by specialist royal officers.

A palace spokesperson confirmed that the Queen was in residence at the time.
