KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 (Bernama) -- The late Datuk A Rahman Hassan’s message on religion, language and family ties are among the issues which will linger in the memories of Khairulizam Abdul Rahman or more well-known as Khir Rahman.

The eldest sibling of the late A. Rahman Hassan who was met at his residence at Taman Sri Ukay, Hulu Klang, said he would remember the message and impart it among his children and family because it was important in undergoing a modern and sophisticated life.

‘’Father always reminded his children to place importance on religion because religion on paper is meaningless if we we don’t practise the teachings of allah.

‘’He also stressed on language and did not like to listen to a mixed language (bahasa rojak), speaking in a topsy turvy manner and with improper grammer,” he said.

His remains were buried at 2.50 pm at the Taman Keramat Muslim Cemetery.

A. Rahman, 73, who was the member of the board of directors of the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) died at the Ampang Hospital, at 12.40 am today due to health complications.

Meanwhile, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi said the late A. Rahman would be remembered forever for his ‘pop yeh yeh’ songs which were liked by the people of all ages.

“I often followed his arts development and the last time I asked about him via Whatsapp on June 6..he informed me he was healthy.

‘’I was shocked at his demise because I personally like to find out about old singers and now the nation has lost a talented artiste,’’ he told reporters after paying his last respects at his residence.

Hundreds of members of the public and artistes turned up to pay their final respects to A. Rahman including artistes’ welfare foundation, Yayasan Kebajikan Artis Tanah Air (YKAT) chairman Datuk DJ Dave, Datuk Jeffry Din, Datuk M. Nasir, Datuk Yusof Haslam and Othman Hafsham.

The cemetery also housed the grave of his wife, Datin Azizah Mohamad who died in 2013.

He left behind wife, Datin Fadilah Mansor and two children, namely, Khairulizam (Khir Rahman) and Khairulazmi.

His second son, Khairul Ilmi died in 2016 due to cancer.
