KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The body of national golfer, Arie Irawan Ahmad Fauzi who passed away in China on Sunday was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery here at about 6.10 pm this evening.
The sombre ceremony was attended by relatives and friends.
Earlier, Arie’s body arrived at Subang Airport this morning before being brought to his house in Taman TAR, Ampang, for family members and friends to pay their last respects.
Arie Irawan, 28, left behind his widow, Marina.
Meanwhile Arie Irawan's family spokesperson, Timothy Low, thanked every for their love, prayers, strength and support through this difficult time.
Low said the late Arie Irawan's family also thanked the Malaysian officials from Bangkok Embassy and also Malaysian Consul General in Guangzhou, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malaysians who made it possible to bring the deceased home as quickly as possible.
Arie who turned professional in April 2013 was reported dead in his hotel room in Sanya, China on Sunday.
He was participating in the Sanya Championship, the second event in the 2019 PGA Tour Series-China.
In 2015, he won his first Official World Golf Ranking point event at the Sime Darby Harvard PGM in the Asian Development Tour and became the top Malaysian player in world ranking.
