PADANG BESAR, April 5 (Bernama) -- A man was detained on suspicion of selling subsidised mixed fertilisers and poisons smuggled from China in a raid by the Malaysian Border Patrol Agency (AKSEM) Chuping on a house in Kampung Tok Mengkula, Ayer Hitam, Kedah, yesterday.
Perlis AKSEM Commander DSP Syed Basri Syed Ali said initial investigation revealed that the 34-year-old man who was detained had purchased the fertilisers from farmers in Kedah at a cheaper price and sold the product at a higher price outside the state.
He said the team had found seven types of poisons which were not registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry valued at RM65,835 while subsidised mixed fertilisers were valued at RM63,075.
A team of officers and personnel from AKSEM Chuping conducted the raid yesterday morning at a house belonging to the man concerned, he said at a press conference at the Chuping AKSEM Complex, here today.
He said the poisons seized were 12,240 packs of 'heben pesticide’; eight bottles of Zon TM; 25 boxes of Lecsplo; 15 bottles of Akara 75WP; Preset 25WP (10 bottles); Nano poisons (17 bottles); Voliam Flexi SC (40 bottles); and 583 sacks of mixed fertilisers produced by NAFAS.
