KOTA BHARU, April 2 (Bernama) -- Kelantan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Senator Datuk Husam Musa has been appointed the new Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada), effective last March 1.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub said Husam’s appointment was made with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
“The appointment was made after considering all matters, apart from Husam being a Kelantan-born,” he told reporters at Husam’s appointment ceremony which was also attended by Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Sallehuddin Hassan.
Prior to this, Kok Lanas Assemblyman Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad was the Kada chairman.
In a related development, Salahuddin said various proactive measures had been taken by the ministry to address the water shortage in the country’s padi farming areas.
“In Kelantan, we have installed about 300 new pumps, as well as built tube wells, to supply water to the affected areas,’ he added.
He said the ministry, with the cooperation of the Meteorology Department, would carry out cloud-seeing at several padi farming areas beginning this week to address the problem.
