MELAKA, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Four former Perlis players, namely Mohamad Fakhrullah Rosli, Mohd Yusri Abas, Muhammad Sabri Adam and Jasmir Mehat have decided to join Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB) FC for the M3 League this season.
SAMB FC team manager Fairullizam Ishak said the players, who were born in the state, were offered one-season contract with SAMB FC after they left the Northern Lions.
“We are only monitoring the players’ situation from afar after the rumours of the problems there are facing and as a professional team we only make the offer after they are no longer with the team and their contracts are void due to the two-month salary arrears.
“They have signed a contract since Feb 18 and they are not a stranger to the Melaka football arena as they have represented the team in the 2017 FAM League. Jasmir has been working with me since the 2012 President Cup,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
The Malaysian Football League (MFL) in a statement on Feb 20 said that its board of directors cancelled the participation of the Northern Lions squad after a detailed check on the financial documents submitted by the Perlis Football Association (PFA) on Feb 18.
Fairullizam said the players had expressed their joy as they received the offer.
He added that the team had no issues if the players wanted to use SAMB FC as a platform to expand their talents and careers in order to acquire better deals in the future.
“For this season's preparation, their presence would indeed an added value to SAMB FC as we are starting the M3 league season this coming March,” he said.
He said the four players were expected to be tested in the FA Cup match against Tun Razak FC at the Raja Muda Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Mohd Fakhrullah, Mohd Yusri and Muhammad Sabri used to play with SAMB FC in the 2016/2017 FAM League season, while Jasmir was a former Melaka United player until 2017, before helping Terengganu FC II won the Challenge Cup 2018.
