PHEI's Council of Vice Chancellors helps boost higher education

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Private Higher Education Institutions’ (PHEI) Council of Vice Chancellors was launched today as a platform of negotiations to enhance the dignity of higher education in the country.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education (MOE), the council would be the negotiation liaison between the private universities and MOE and related agencies.

Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik launched the event which also saw MAHSA University Pro-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairul Anuar Abdullah being appointed chairman of the council.

According to the statement, the council comprised 14 individuals comprising the vice chancellors of private universities for the 2019/2020 session.

The council represented 63 private universities comprising 53 local universities and 10 overseas branch campuses, according to the statement.
