PUTRAJAYA, Jan 4 (Bernama) – Weekly newspaper Wilayahku, set to be the mouthpiece for people in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, was launched today.

The newspaper to be distributed free every Friday was launched by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad at his office.

He said that for a start, 20,000 copies of the weekly will be printed but the numbers would be increased should there be a need, adding that it would be available in all the three federal territories.

"Wilayahku will be be one of the initiatives in ‘prospering’ the people besides connecting the government to the people of the federal territories," he said.

He added that about RM1 million was provided to cover its operations, which was partly contributed by the Federal Territories Foundation and agencies under the ministry.

The 25-page newspaper headed by its editor-in-chief Zulkifli Sulong, features news, exclusive interviews, urban, business, celebrity, community, Labuan news and sports write-ups.

Wilayahku will be available in all mosques, suraus, other places of worship, and government offices in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

On the changes and transfers related to the secretary-general (KSU) position at some ministries, Khalid told reporters that it was a common process in the civil service and was not a political decision.

"Such transfers (of the KSU) are a normal rotation process, there may be some who may be pensionable or due for promotions after being the deputy KSU. So, this is all the usual process," said Khalid, who is also Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Communications director.

Twelve ministries each had a new KSU and they received their letters of appointment from Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar, yesterday.

Among them was Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim, who was appointed as KSU of the Federal Territories Ministry. He previously held the same position at the Transport Ministry.
