KUALA KANGSAR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah today presented the letter of appointment to General (R) Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin as the first pro-chancellor of Sultan Azlan Shah University (USAS) at the university’s convocation ceremony here.
Mohd Zahidi, 78, a former Malaysian Armed Forces chief holds a Master of Science degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
He was appointed as Member of Dewan Negara Perak on Nov 25, 2006 by the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.
On April 19 2014, Mohd Zahidi was bestowed Perak’s highest award for commoners, the ‘Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Sultan Azlan Shah Perak Yang Amat Dimulia’ (S.P.S.A) which carries the title “Dato’ Seri DiRaja.”
For the first time since USAS was upgraded from university college status to a full-fledged university in June 2016, the convocation ceremony saw Dr Ahmad Zaki Hasan as the first recipient of a doctoral degree having completed his studies in Usuluddin Philosophy.
