KUANTAN, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- A total of eight women's football teams will take part in the 2018 Tun Sharifah Rodziah Cup League competition organised by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) at the Mokhtar Dahari National Football Academy here tomorrow.
The eight teams which would be involved were Kedah, Selangor, Melaka, Penang, Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and Malaysian Malay Football Association (PBMM).
Championship operations director, Siti Zuraida Mustafa said the purpose of the competition was to uncover the talent of women players and to choose them to represent the country's team in the future.
"All teams will play via league where matches will be held on weekends on Saturday and Sunday from tomorrow. This competition is open and competitive in comparison to previously when it was held in a carnival manner.
"This is also the only tournament that provides a platform for female players to showcase their soccer skills .... talented players in this competition will certainly be absorbed in the national team," she said when met by reporters here today.
