KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) – The MCA today announced its Bangi division committee member, Tan Chee Teong as its candidate for the Balakong by-election, on Sept 8.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who made the announced at Wisma MCA here, described Tan as an activist and grassroots man born and bred in Balakong.
“MCA is fielding a vibrant person who is authoritative, is aware of all the problems in the area and one who never shirks his responsibilities,” he said of the 40-year-old candidate.
MCA will also be using its own party logo in the by-election.
The Balakong state seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent Eddie Ng Tien Chee in a road accident on July 20.
In the 14th General Election, DAP’s Ng beat Barisan Nasional candidate Lim Chin Wah and PAS candidate Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali with a 35,538 vote majority.
