KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian songbird, Rozita Rohaizad will perform her new single fresh from the oven 'Malaysia Ku', at the Malaysia Festival Sydney at Tumbalong Park, Sydney on Sept 1 and Sept 2.

Back for the second time to delight visitors to the annual event hosted by Australian students in Sydney, Rozita will kick off her show with the song to commemorate Malaysia's 61st National Day as well as Malaysia Day which falls on Sept 16.

Malaysia Ku is a patriotic asli song penned by Kensolo Indrapatih of Ken Bluesmetal Music Event Company who will appear alongside Rozita on guitar to liven up her performance.

Kensolo also composed Rozita's Zapin Rinduan Kasih which will also be performed at this year's Malaysia festival to be accompanied by dancers comprising students from Sydney universities.

The sultry vocalist and entertainer leaves on Aug 27 to start rehearsals with them. The 70's era artiste is the daughter of legendary actress the late Mariani Ismail and the niece of the late great Puan Sri Saloma.

PENNED ON AUG 1

"Malaysia Ku was penned on Aug 1 and extolls on the virtues of perpetuating social graces and good behaviour. It's a gentle hint to stay away from backbiting, slandering, body shaming and the likes which are the norm these days," Rozita told Bernama.

"Malaysia Ku also hints to the Malays to be patriotic, faithful and loyal to Malaysia," she added.

Kensolo penned the song and lyrics and Malaysia Ku was recorded and mastered by Zamvery of Evergreen Music Studio, Penang.

Her traditional Malay outfits for the show will be sponsored by Malaysian designers Salikin Sidek and Azhar Zainal.

She last performed at the National Multicultural Festival 2017 in Canberra on Feb 17-18.

Self-financed, Rozita has performed at the annual Canberra show, organised by the Australian Canberra territory government since 2015. Her last performance in Sydney was on Sept 27, 2015 at an event organised by the Australian Students Organisation at Pymont Bay, near Darling Harbour Sydney.
