Bung Moktar uses f-word, causes commotion in Dewan Rakyat

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- A commotion broke out at the Dewan Rakyat today when an opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) used the F-word against a government backbencher today.

The incident began when Bung Moktar interjected Khairy Jamaluddin’s (BN-Rembau) debate to ask a question on the Sales and Service Tax by saying that when he went to Selayang Wholesale Market, he found that the prices were cheaper during the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

At this juncture, Willie Mongin (PH-Puncak Borneo) interrupted and asked:  “(Are you sure it’s) not the casino?”

Dissatisfied, Bung Moktar demanded for Mongin to retract the statement and described the latter as unworthy of being an MP.

“That is rude. Retract that! You are unworthy of being here, you thug. What (do) you want? You want to fight with me? F*** you! You picked the wrong man,” he shouted.

Unhappy with the F-word used by Bung Moktar, several other backbenchers stood up and asked the MP to retract the word, with some calling for the Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker ​​​​​​​Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon to order Bung Moktar out of the Dewan.

However, Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee (BN-Beluran) who is also former Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker, interrupted and said that Mongin had violated Standing Order 36 (9) which reads that no reference shall be made in any debate to the conduct or character of any MP.

No ruling was made.

Mohd Rashid then adjourned the sitting for lunch and ordered Bung Moktar to retract the word when the sitting resumed at 2.30 pm.

Bung Moktar adhered to the order.
