06/08/2018 07:30 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6  (Bernama) -- Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen today announced that he is willing to vacate the seat to make way for PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, he said there had been no discussions on this between him and Anwar yet.

"If I  am asked, I am more than willing to give up my seat to make way for Datuk Seri Anwar and I am sure all other PKR MPs will do likewise,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

At the close of nominations for this year’s PKR polls yesterday,  no one came forward to challenge Anwar for the presidency.

The official announcement will be made on Aug 19.

Also today, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also Anwar’s wife and currently PKR president and their daughter Nurul Izzah, who are the MPs for Pandan and Permatang Pauh respectively, had stressed that they would not be giving up their seats.
