KANGAR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- All construction industry stakeholders in Perlis, including contractors, consultants and students, are urged to fully utilise the programmes, training and opportunities provided by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in collaboration with the federal government.

Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail called on them to collaborate in strengthening competitiveness, adopting new technologies and supporting the nation’s digitalisation goals to ensure Perlis’s construction sector grows in line with other states.

“The opening of the new CIDB office in Perlis marks a significant milestone for our state. The construction industry here is expanding rapidly and holds great potential to contribute to the country’s development agenda.

“Current figures clearly show this sector is a key driver of Perlis’s socio-economic growth,” he said at the official launch of the CIDB Perlis office in Kangar Jaya today.

Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli and Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan were also present.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin expressed confidence that the new CIDB office would enhance service delivery to the industry and the public.

He urged CIDB staff to leverage the modern facilities to improve work quality, strengthen enforcement, expand training and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, and support digital transformation through technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Meanwhile, Ahmad said more than 130,000 contractors are registered with CIDB nationwide, including 2,076 in Perlis.

He said contractors in the state are engaged in projects worth over RM1.1 billion, of which levy-eligible projects above RM500,000 total RM689.3 million.

“The levy collected is RM861,715, with 69 per cent coming from government projects and 31 per cent from private sector developments,” he added.
