KOTA BHARU, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, has expressed concern over society’s exposure to global and social media influences that sometimes lead to misunderstandings and division.
His Royal Highness called for continued efforts to instil and strengthen the values of courtesy, mutual respect and proper etiquette in speech.
“This is important to ensure that society, particularly the younger generation, remains steadfast in upholding our cultural values, despite the challenges of globalisation,” he said in his royal address at the investiture ceremony in conjunction with his 56th birthday at Istana Balai Besar here today.
Sultan Muhammad V was also pleased with the positive progress made in preparation for the Malaysia Games 2028, with the construction of the Bukit Merbau Sports Complex actively underway.
“Attention must be given to important aspects, including traffic flow management and safety in the area,” His Royal Highness said.
In this regard, Sultan Muhammad V called on the federal government to expedite the road infrastructure leading to the complex, including the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Highway, Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Expressway, as well as the upgrading and construction of feeder roads to the sports complex.
“I wish to express my appreciation to the state government and both state and federal civil servants who have contributed their ideas, energy and commitment in carrying out their responsibilities for the progress and harmony of our beloved Kelantan.
“I call upon the people to pray together to Allah for His blessings, so that Kelantan will always be endowed with lasting prosperity and abundance, safeguarded from all calamities and disasters, and preserved in peace and harmony under His care and protection,” His Royal Highness said.
At the same time, Sultan Muhammad V urged all parties to leverage on Kelantan’s strength as one of Malaysia’s main agricultural and livestock producers.
He said such efforts are crucial to positioning the state as the nation’s primary food producer, while simultaneously helping to strengthen the country’s food security.
“The state’s potential in downstream product development must also be given due attention, particularly through the exploration of industries that can add value to local products and expand their market internationally.
“I also welcome the announcement of the 13th Malaysia Plan, which involves several important initiatives for Kelantan, including the development of a blue economy hub, upgrading of bunkering infrastructure, shipbuilding and repair industry, as well as upgrading the Tok Bali port,” His Royal Highness added.
