BATU PAHAT, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The Information Department (JAPEN) is taking a fresh approach through the Kampung Angkat MADANI (KAM) and PENTARAMA X Kelab Malaysiaku programmes at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Medan here, offering more engaging and focused content.
JAPEN director-general Julina Johan said the programmes placed emphasis on two main aspects, namely education and community development, combined with elements of entertainment and patriotism.
She said the programme also focused on instilling awareness against bullying among students while providing guidance on potential pathways after completing school.
“As the event takes place in a school, I give greater emphasis to guiding students on their future paths after completing school, in addition to highlighting the importance of community service.
“Among these are the 'road to university' elements, as well as community service through initiatives we spearhead and participation in volunteer activities,” she told reporters at the programme, which was also attended by SMK Seri Medan principal Masrom Rahmat.
Julina said that under the JAPEN initiative, two high-impact physical development projects were carried out at SMK Seri Medan, namely the upgrading of a classroom into a computer lab and the installation of a fan in the school’s open hall.
“Through JAPEN, the community around Sri Medan benefits from the construction of an additional block at the Pekan Sri Medan Mosque, which is currently in the initial phase and is expected to be completed by the end of this year,” she said.
Julina added that the organisation of such programmes demonstrated the government’s commitment to ensuring that the people continue to enjoy their benefits.
“Development requires a spirit of togetherness, and the implementation of KAM has brought benefits through close cooperation between central agencies (JAPEN) and state bodies such as the Johor government, district education offices, and the State Education Department,” she said.
