SEPANG, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) will hold a daily press conference at 4 pm as soon as the Global Samud Flotilla (GSF) mission enters the yellow zone.
Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (Mapim) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim said the move is important to provide the latest information on the status of the mission, as well as ensuring that the narrative presented is clear and accurate to dispel any elements of propaganda.
"This is especially when the mission has entered the high-risk zone, which is approximately 300 nautical miles from Gaza waters. It is to ensure the narrative conveyed remains accurate. If there is hearsay or unconfirmed reports, we will clarify.
"If there is an element of propaganda, we can eliminate it early so that there is no panic or fear," he said when met by reporters at SNCC here today.
He said among the preparatory measures taken by GSF participants when passing through the risk zone included the activation of live broadcasts of closed-circuit camera (CCTV) recordings on all ships in case of disruption or provocation.
"It will ensure that the whole world witnesses the incident in real time. Israel cannot deny responsibility. If they choose confrontation, they risk making the whole world their enemy, and that is not a wise move,” he said.
He explained that the GSF mission is to bring the hearts and voices of the international community, as well as raise awareness and encourage the world to act on the situation in Gaza.
Sani Araby also described the mission as a possible last-ditch effort to deliver humanitarian aid directly to the people of Gaza as the territory shrinks due to the Israeli regime’s aggression.
“Many feel as if hope is lost. However, when Gaza seems to be disappearing, the world rises unexpectedly.
“This is a victory for people of conscience around the world who support Gaza and Palestine... God willing, we hope for not just a temporary ceasefire, but a total cessation of war,” he said.
The GSF voyage carrying food supplies, medicine and messages of peace is scheduled to arrive in Gaza waters by the end of this month, involving participants consisting of international volunteers from Europe, Asia, South Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
A total of 34 Malaysian volunteers participated in the mission under the banner of Sumud Nusantara, led by the chief executive officer of Cinta Gaza Malaysia, Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman.
