TAIPING, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) remains committed to assisting students, particularly those from the B40 group facing financial constraints, to pursue their studies at institutions of higher learning.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said that the support is channelled through initiatives such as the Sulung initiative and the Yayasan Perkasa Siswa (YPS) fund.
“It is our responsibility to obtain information related to the students concerned. We have and will continue to support them through the Sulung initiative and YPS fund, regardless of race,” he told reporters after attending the MADANI POLYCC Project handover ceremony in Kampung Batu 8, Bendang Siam, here today.
Also present was Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK) director-general Datuk Mohd Zahari Ismail.
The Sulung is an educational initiative designed to provide opportunities and financial assistance to students from B40 families who are the first individuals in their families to pursue studies at degree level and above at public universities.
Meanwhile, Zambry said that RM1.2 million has been allocated to implement various community development projects in Kampung Batu 8 under the Kampung Angkat MADANI (MADANI village adoption) initiative and the MADANI Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme managed by the JPPKK.
He added that the allocation covers several infrastructure and physical projects, including upgrading the surau, constructing a public hall, building an open hall at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bendang Siam, setting up a funeral room at Masjid Al-Wusqa and constructing a recreational gazebo at the surau as a resting place.
In addition, a boat was contributed by Bagan Datuk Polytechnic for the use of the villagers.
