Easy And Quick: Military, Police Personnel Laud BUDI95 Initiative

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Security personnel have applauded the refuelling process involving the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95), describing it as ‘easy and quick’.

Sub-Lieutenant Ahmad Azhari Mohd Yazid, 27, said the process of refuelling vehicles was quick and straightforward, with petrol station staff on standby to assist in ensuring smooth operations.

"We just need to insert the identification card into the machine at the petrol pump to receive the subsidised price," he said when met at a petrol station in Taman Setiawangsa here.

Ahmad Azhari, who is stationed at the Naval Headquarters here, said that with the initiative, he could save about RM100 per month on petrol expenses, which can then be used for other needs.

Corporal Hilmi Azlan, 29, from the Malaysian Armed Forces Personnel Services Division, said he did not take long to refuel his motorcycle using the method.

He said the monthly quota of 300 litres for eligible Malaysians is more than sufficient for personal use.

“Apart from helping to ease the cost of living, this programme also ensures that subsidies are enjoyed solely by Malaysians and do not leak to foreigners,” he said.

Lance Corporal Ahmad Yusri Yusup, who serves with the Motorcycle Patrol Unit at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Police Station, said the initiative could help him save significantly as he frequently refuels his motorcycle for his daily commute.

The BUDI95 initiative took effect at midnight, with approximately 300,000 military and police personnel becoming the first group to benefit from the subsidised RON95 petrol price of RM1.99 per litre, compared to the market rate of RM2.05.

Another Armed Forces personnel, Lance Corporal Mohd Furqhan Mohd Raffiee, 29, said the process of receiving the petrol subsidy was very straightforward, contrary to his initial concern.

“The BUDI95 process is very simple. You pay for fuel as usual, the only difference is confirming your identity card to receive the subsidy,” Mohd Furqhan said when met at a petrol station in Sungai Besi Camp.

He said he usually spends between RM300 and RM400 a month on petrol for commuting to work and travelling home to Kangar, Perlis, to visit his family, adding that the RON95 subsidy initiative could significantly reduce the amount.

For Corporal Muhammad Amirul Hakim Mohd Yusoff, 31, BUDI95 will help ease the burden on families who rely on their vehicles daily.

“My monthly fuel expenses could reach up to RM300. Now I can reorganise my monthly budget, and at the very least, there’s extra room to use that money for other needs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali stated that approximately 3,000 Armed Forces personnel at Sungai Besi Camp are expected to benefit directly from the BUDI95 initiative, describing the initiative as proof of the government’s concern over the rising cost of living and a gesture of appreciation for the country’s security forces.
