IPOH, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- The Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is ready to face the Northeast Monsoon season, focusing on 332 flood-prone areas statewide.
Its director, Sayani Saidon, said that the Kuala Kangsar, Kerian and Larut, Matang and Selama districts recorded the highest number of hotspots.
“We have prepared logistics, equipment and tools for flood operations to ensure they are in good condition.
“The public should also be ready to evacuate quickly and follow instructions from the authorities,” she told reporters after officiating the Perak JBPM-level Malaysia Clean-Up Day 2025 in Meru Raya today.
She said 32 locations prone to water surges had also been identified, including Sungai Kampung Ruah Batu 7, Sungai Lata Kinjang and Sungai Lata Iskandar in Batang Padang district and Lubok Timah in Kinta district.
High-risk landslide areas include the Jalan Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands, Jalan Pengkalan Hulu-Betong, the Sungai Enggor Bridge and the Kinta district.
Sayani said the department was also prepared for seismic-related disasters such as earthquakes, particularly in cave temples, although no directive had been received so far.
