Mohd Chan Restaurant Chain Founder To Be Laid To Rest At 1.30 Pm Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The founder of Restoran Mohd Chan, Datuk Dr Mohd Chan Abdullah, who died at Sungai Buloh Hospital last night, is expected to be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara 2 Muslim cemetery at 1.30 pm today. 

In a post on the Mohd Chan Malaysia Facebook page, the family announced that the funeral rites will be conducted at Masjid At-Taqwa, Taman Tun Dr Ismail.  

“Family, friends, and acquaintances can pay their last respects from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm, after which the funeral prayers will be held following the Zohor prayer,” the post stated.

Mohd Chan, 72, who established the Mohd Chan restaurant chain in 2007, was reported to have passed away at 7.09 pm yesterday. 

The restaurants became popular among a diverse, multi-ethnic clientele for their halal Cantonese cuisine, such as roasted duck, dim sum, wantan noodles, and a variety of other Chinese-style dishes.

The restaurant chain now operates 18 branches, primarily located in the Klang Valley.

Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed, expressed his condolences in a post on the official APM Facebook page.

He noted that the late Mohd Chan was also an Honorary Officer of the Federal Territories APM.

“On behalf of myself and the entire APM staff, I wish to express our condolences on the passing of the late Datuk Mohd Chan Abdullah, who returned to the mercy of Allah on Sept 24, 2025 (Wednesday), corresponding to the 2nd of Rabiulakhir 1447 Hijri.

“May his soul be blessed with mercy and placed among the faithful and the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” he said.
